Captain Wright proudly served as the Commanding Officer of Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes IL where he annually prepared 55,000 recruits ready for the fleet.  Prior to RTC Capt Wright was double hatted as the Commanding Officer of Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek, Norfolk VA, and Program Manager, Public Safety, Mid-Atlantic Region.  Capt Wright also had command of the Personnel Support Activity, Puget Sound WA.  He was the Flag Secretary to the Commander in Chief, U.S. Atlantic Fleet and Executive Officer for the Deputy Commander prior to reporting to NAB Little Creek.

Captain Wright graduated from High School in San Antonio TX, and enlisted
in the U.S. Navy in 1965.  After recruit training and initial operational sea duty assignments on Aircraft Carriers Yorktown and Ranger, he completed numerous service schools which included Jungle Warfare Training and Assault Boat Coxswain School at Little Creek in 1966.  He was then assigned to the Mobile Riverine Forces, the USS BENEWAH (APB 35), Patrol Riverine Boats (PBR), the USS Asheville (Patrol Gunboat 84) and advisor duty in Vietnam from 1966 to 1970.  From August 1970 until April 1976 he continued on operational sea duty and forward deployed overseas duty on numerous surface ships until he was commissioned as a Limited Duty Officer.

Captain Wright’s twenty years operational sea duty also includes four department head tours — Amphibious Squadron FIVE, Aircraft Carrier MIDWAY (CV 41), Battleship IOWA (BB 61), and Nuclear Aircraft Carrier THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71).

Other shore duty assignments include Special Assistant for Civil Affairs, Guam; Special Assistant to the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff; Head Officer Fitness Report Branch, Bureau of Naval Personnel; U.S. Navy Liaison Officer for the Secretary of the Army, assigned to the White House; and Director, Field Support Activities, Bureau of Naval Personnel.

Captain Wright’s personal decorations include three Legion of Merits, two Defense Meritorious Service Medals, four Meritorious Service Medals, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, four Navy Commendation Medals, the Navy Achievement Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon and two Good Conduct Medals in addition to various campaign and service decorations.  Captain Wright is also the second recipient of the UDT/Seal Association Medal.

Captain Wright has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Personnel Administration,
a Bachelor of Liberal Arts Degree in Psychology, and a Masters of Liberal Arts Degree in Psychology, all from San Diego State University, San Diego CA.

Captain Wright is happily married to the former Doni Nelson of Houston TX.
They have four wonderful children, Christina (Pulaski TN), Audie (Dallas TX),
